School post: International Community School
The following post was written by Mr Andrea Blades, Head of Product Design at the International Community School about their experience participating in the Design Ventura. Below are some images of a workshop the school attended in the Design Museum and at the bottom the product chosen to entry this year’s Design Ventura competition.
MYP3 and 4 took part in a live competition with the Design museum. Design Ventura is a nation wide, design enterprise, competition open to over 100 secondary schools.
“Design Ventura, the Design Museum’s flagship learning project is an opportunity for students to develop design thinking, creative and business capabilities and employability skills.”
In association with the Desuche bank, Students had to design and create a product to sell in the Museum shop. They had to develop a product for a specific target audience to sell for £10.
Entries ranged from; a wallet security holder, toys, organisers and weather hangers; to organise your children’s clothes.
Under the leadership of Olfat; Mihai, Monica, Daniel and Ariellle were the winning group. Students designed a “brain break; Desk-top Drum kit”. A small 3D drum kit that can be put together and played using 2 pencils at your desk.
Fingers crossed for our budding entrepreneurs.
